DSHCode
English | Chinese
DSHCode is a free, open-source desktop AI Agent application for macOS and Windows. It bundles the Web UI and plugin runtime of the official open-source project DeepSeek Harness into a ready-to-install Electron application — no Node.js, no terminal, no command line required.

Features
DSHCode inherits the full capabilities of DeepSeek Harness and adds a ready-to-use desktop experience.
Agent Core — a plugin-based framework with built-in bash, file system, web search/scrape, terminal, LSP, and subprocess tools; supports sandboxed isolation and per-operation approval prompts.
Interactive UI — inline-rendered GenUI cards: charts, tables, quizzes, 3D scenes, diagrams, forms, and progress views.
Skills — an installable catalog of skill directories providing specialized workflows for the Agent — research, document writing, visual tools, and more.
Orchestration — Subagent parallel delegation, plus Workflows that can fan out in parallel stages across multiple Agents.
Long-running Tasks — Plan mode with review-before-execute, cross-turn Goal targets, and resumable sessions.
Model Experience — use DeepSeek models via the official API; session logs fully record what the model saw, and any run can be reconstructed.
Model Controls — adjust reasoning effort by provider (off to max), maximum output tokens, and toggle multimodal capabilities such as image input, image generation, and image recognition.

Personalization — themes and skins, selection annotation, shortcuts, Chinese/English UI.
Plugin Management — install plugins from npm or Git repositories, check for updates, and enable or disable them individually.

Fault Recovery — plugins that fail to load are reported with diagnostic info: disable the plugin, launch in safe mode, or let the Agent auto-repair with the failure context.

Archive Management — search archived sessions; restore or permanently delete.

Extensible — install new capabilities without changing the app.
Desktop Integration — tray icon, system notifications, single-instance launch, and a hardened Electron window.

See the Web UI guide for detailed operation instructions, and the Desktop app guide for architecture, platform targets, and current limitations.
Download
| Platform | Installer |
|---|---|
| macOS Apple Silicon | DSHCode-*-macos-arm64.dmg |
| macOS Intel | DSHCode-*-macos-x64.dmg |
| Windows x64 | DSHCode-*-win-x64.exe |
Each release ships SHA-256 checksums alongside the installers (SHA256SUMS.txt).
Preview installers are not yet code-signed or notarized, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen may show warnings before the first launch. The software itself is safe; the warnings simply reflect the absence of a paid signing certificate on the binaries:
- macOS: right-click the app in Finder and choose Open, then confirm in the dialog. Alternatively, run
xattr -cr /Applications/DSHCode.apponce in a terminal. - Windows: click More info in the SmartScreen dialog, then choose Run anyway.
Quick Start
After installing the DSHCode package, launch DSHCode from the macOS "Applications" folder or the Windows "Start" menu. The app starts and stops its built-in Web profile automatically; installed users do not need to run any terminal commands.
Running from Source
Developers can also run the upstream Web entry from source:
git clone https://github.com/whitelonng/dshcode.git
cd dshcode
pnpm install
pnpm run build
pnpm dsh web
The command prints the local Web UI address. See the Web UI guide for details.
Desktop App
When you open DSHCode, the app starts the built-in Harness Web profile and displays it in a security-hardened Electron window. The desktop shell is intentionally kept minimal; product behavior and the Web UI are still provided by the upstream package, so upstream updates can continue to be integrated without maintaining a second interface.
Local Service and Port
On each launch, the app starts an HTTP service inside the Electron main process. The service binds only to 127.0.0.1 and lets the operating system assign an available ephemeral port, so it does not occupy a fixed port and normally will not conflict with other local services. DSHCode allows only a single app instance and loads only its own exact loopback address; the process releases the Harness tree before exiting, so closing the app also stops the service and frees the port.
Build Desktop Installers
git clone https://github.com/whitelonng/dshcode.git
cd dshcode
pnpm install
pnpm run desktop:dist
Build artifacts are written to .artifacts/desktop/release/. The GitHub Actions workflow named Desktop builds installers for macOS Apple Silicon, macOS Intel, and Windows x64; desktop-v* tags publish the full build matrix along with SHA-256 checksums to GitHub Releases.
FAQ
What is DSHCode?
DSHCode is a free, open-source desktop app that turns DeepSeek's plugin-based AI Agent framework, DeepSeek Harness, into a ready-to-install macOS and Windows application, complete with a graphical conversation and workspace interface.
Is DSHCode official DeepSeek software?
No. DSHCode is an independent community project. It retains the upstream package name, copyright, architecture, docs, and upstream remote for proper attribution and merging; unless DeepSeek explicitly authorizes otherwise, it is not an official DeepSeek distribution, endorsement, or certification.
Do I need Node.js or a terminal?
No. Installed users get a regular application; Node.js, the CLI, and a terminal are only required when running from source or building installers yourself.
Why do macOS/Windows show security warnings?
Preview installers are unsigned. This is a cost issue, not a security one; see the download section for one-time open steps.
Is an API Key required?
Yes. DSHCode runs DeepSeek models through the official API; configure it once in the app settings.
Can DSHCode be extended?
Yes. The built-in plugin installer adds capabilities without modifying the app; safe mode disables crashing plugins so the app still starts.
Positioning
DeepSeek Harness (dsh) is the official open-source, plugin-based agent harness (intelligent agent framework) developed by DeepSeek AI. DSHCode participates in its plugin ecosystem as a companion desktop distribution and uses the dsh-plugin and deepseekharness-plugin repository tags for easier discovery.
DSHCode is an independent community project. Unless DeepSeek explicitly authorizes it, it does not represent an official DeepSeek distribution, endorsement, or certification.

License and Branding
The source code continues to use the upstream MIT License. When redistributing, DeepSeek's copyright and license notices must be retained; see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md for bundled third-party software and its licenses. The desktop installers ship both files alongside the application.
The MIT software license itself does not grant permission to use DSHCode's branding of the DeepSeek trademark or logo. The rights related to these brand identifiers are reserved by DeepSeek's Terms of Use (Chinese version). The DSHCode distribution uses a distinct application icon; the upstream identity markers and the official powered by dsh attribution retained in the embedded Harness interface are used only to indicate compatibility and do not imply official endorsement.
