No build step, no account, no telemetry.

Usage

# 1) share link → metadata (no login, no cookie)
python3 scripts/vtt.py "https://v.douyin.com/xxxx/"

# 2) local video → transcript
python3 scripts/vtt.py 本地视频.mp4

Requirements

Python 3.9+

pip3 install faster-whisper      # transcription only; first run downloads the tiny model (~75MB)

macOS ships avconvert; on Linux install ffmpeg. Share-link parsing needs no dependencies at all.

Notes

Metadata mode is honestly metadata: it does not download or transcribe the video. Transcription runs only on local files. Both paths are self-hosted — nothing is sent to a third-party service.
