DSH Desktop integrates the local Web UI, Host service, and plugin system of DeepSeek Harness into a native desktop application. The project pins and runs a specific upstream version as-is; DSH Desktop provides the window, tray, terminal, updates, and work configuration, and composes upstream capabilities via the plugin mechanism provided by DeepSeek Harness.

The current official installer supports Windows x64 and macOS Universal. No extra environment setup is required — just download, install, and get started in one click.

Key Features

First-Run Setup, Browser & LAN Access

On its first launch, each uninitialized profile shows a native Setup Wizard provided by Desktop itself. The wizard lets you configure window mode and system material, the plugin marketplace, notifications, whether to auto-open in the system default browser, and the Web access scope; it can also be skipped directly. Neither the Host nor the main DSH window starts until the wizard is completed or skipped. The completed/skipped status is recorded per profile; an explicit recovery launch still takes priority into the recovery assistant.

The web service listens on the loopback address by default. Enabling "Open in browser" makes Desktop open it in the default browser once the service is ready; this option does not change network exposure. "Desktop settings" shows the actual local URL. LAN access is a separate optional setting that, when enabled, also shows the current LAN URL.

Danger: Exposing to the LAN provides no authentication; anyone on the same LAN as you can directly open DSH and operate your computer. Enable this only with great caution on fully trusted networks.

Fixed-version check requests for auto-updates carry the currently installed version in the X-DSH-Desktop-Version header, stable or beta in X-DSH-Desktop-Channel, and a randomly generated, persistently stored UUID from this machine in the X-DSH-Desktop-Installation-Id header; it is not an identifier derived from hardware information. Installer downloads carry the channel and X-DSH-Desktop-Target-Version, but download requests and their redirects do not carry the installation identifier or the current version.

Plugin Ecosystem

Plugins add capabilities to DSH — models, tools, UIs, and workflows can all become plugins, freely combined like building blocks.

DSH Desktop has not modified the upstream source code, and it is not a fixed, hard-coded shell. The pinned upstream DeepSeek Harness version runs as-is; the desktop shell itself — window, tray, terminal, updates, work configuration — plugs in as a DSH plugin and composes with upstream capabilities into the same runtime via the plugin mechanism provided by DeepSeek Harness. From the core agent to the desktop shell, the entire product follows the same "everything is a plugin" rule: plugins compatible with the pinned upstream version are usable, and desktop capabilities are composed, replaced, and evolved the plugin way.

We want the plugin ecosystem to be as seamless as mobile apps: all plugins follow the same rules and work together without interfering.

For Developers

Unlike many other projects, this project itself is a DSH plugin: the desktop shell and third-party plugins use the same plugin composition mechanism. Desktop's plugin capabilities are already available for use. We provide Desktop services that let plugin developers integrate their plugins with desktop capabilities: for example, viewing and switching work configurations, or installing, updating, and removing plugins within the current configuration. Relationship with DeepSeek Harness

DSH Desktop is an independent community project built on top of DeepSeek Harness and the Cordis plugin philosophy, aiming to provide an open, composable DSH desktop experience.

This repository is maintained independently by the community. No DeepSeek employee or member of the DeepSeek Harness upstream team is involved in developing, maintaining, or governing this project. Upstream contributors appearing on the GitHub Contributors page come from commit history inherited at fork time and later syncs; this only reflects commit origin, not involvement with this repository, and does not constitute any affiliation, partnership, authorization, or endorsement.

The upstream project provides the core agent capabilities, plugin system, and Web UI; DSH Desktop is primarily responsible for:

• Desktop application packaging
• Starting, stopping, and recovering the local service
• Desktop window and system tray integration
• Building and releasing macOS and Windows installers
• A UI experience better suited to desktop use

Development

The stable and Beta desktop packages live in dsh-plugin-desktop/ and dsh-plugin-desktop-beta/ respectively. The outer repository uses Yarn; the pinned deepseek-harness/ submodule continues to use its own pnpm workspace. Run from the repository root:
